Beaumont: A Lively Texan City
Beaumont is a city and county seat of Jefferson County, Texas. Located on the Neches River and about 90 miles from Houston, it is the 24th most populous city in the state of Texas. Beaumont’s early history was centered around the development of lumber, farming, and port industries. Now, along with Port Arthur and Orange, Beaumont forms the Golden Triangle, a major industrial area on the Gulf Coast. The city is home to a multitude of museums, historic buildings, and performing arts centers such as the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, the Tyrrell Historical Library, and the Jefferson Theatre. Downtown Beaumont is the center of business, government, and nighttime entertainment in southeast Texas.
